So, what happens to those of us who want to raise children with imagination and curiosity? We make a choice. We fill our houses with some good old fashioned toys to counteract all the technology our children will be faced with day after day. Lets start with the basics. Kitchen Play - If you look around your kitchen right now, youll probably see quite a few plastic utensils that could be pretty fun in the bathtub. Or, you may want to take a stroll through a thrift shop and pick up a supply of plastic bowls, cups, and utensils at a reasonable price. Fill a tub with water, add some plastic containers, and your child will play cooking until they get pruny. Add some bubbles, and they can imagine theyre whipping up batter for a cake. Yummy! Legos and Building Blocks - Children of all ages are fascinated by Legos and blocks. When your child sits down in the middle of a pile of blocks, the imagination can run wild. You may notice that some of the most unusual bridges, towers, cities, or even monsters start to appear. For the very young child, the simple building of a tower of blocks, knocking it down, and building it again, can keep them occupied for hours, screaming and giggling the whole time. For the older child, building a city or complicated structure takes concentration and imagination. Theyre not only being creative, but also learning patience and improving their small-motor skills. After your child has completed a structure, sit down and ask about it. Whats its name? What are the people like in the new city? Is the city on earth or on another planet? Ask your child to describe what a day is like in this new city. This can be a learning experience thats invaluable as well as fun. Hand Puppets - There are all sorts of ways to create simple puppets. Your child can draw features they like on an old sock and it becomes a sock puppet. A pile of popsicle sticks can become a family of puppets when faces are drawn, cloth is glued on for clothes, and yarn is glued on for hair. You can even use an old pair of gloves. Just cut off the fingers of the glove and decorate to look like people, aliens, monsters, or animals. Your childs imagination will run wild if you just get out the box of materials needed. Then, it will be time for you to sit down and enjoy the show! Felt Story Boards - Telling stories is another way for children to use their imagination and creativity. Buy a nice supply of colorful felt to be cut up into basic shapes for the younger child and more sophisticated props for the older child. A very young child will amaze you with their ability to create objects with just a few basic shapes. Have them tell you a story about each creation, as you may not realize what it is until they tell you! Your older child can research characters and props by looking through books and magazines. Encourage your child to not only design the characters and the settings, but to tell you the story, act by act. Musical Instruments - Whether your musical instruments are home-made with a comb and wax paper or store bought, making music is a wonderful way to spend the day together. Teach your child that music can be made from anything, from an old oatmeal container, to scratching two pieces of sandpaper together. You may want to listen to music together and try to pick out the instruments that are making the sounds. Get some sheet music or song books and teach your child about what the notes represent, and if you dont know, learn together. Simple bells can be strung together to create a one-of-a-kind instrument. When your children start throwing themselves into dressing-up, the stories of who they are and what theyre doing start to develop, usually turning into a production of sorts in which you, the audience, is now invited to attend. A mix of the two is important so kids can choose, and so that they see they have a choice. Some homes lack a good supply of non-fiction books, especially during the pre-school years. There are enough suitable books in science, history and art to fill the bookshelves of any age childs room. Your non-fiction library will not only be interesting to your inquisitive child, but will be a good base for learning to research material later in their school years, and beyond. Fiction on the bookshelves spurs the imagination and helps the not-so-eager reader stay interested long enough to learn that reading is important, and fun! Your imagination as a parent is what will help your child develop their own imagination. When you create an environment for exploring the world, you are giving your child an opportunity to use their mind. Technology will always be there, but a childs imagination is a changing and growing thing. Youre making it possible for your child to soar!

Do you really believe you do not have TIME to put something else on? A simple sundress and flip-flops with painted toes can go a long way-and just as easy as throwing on sweats mind you.

4.)Start surprising your spouse and yourself! One of the secrets my husband and I have when it comes to our marriage is that we do nice things for each other -with NO strings attached! For example, this week has been a bit draining on us and Monday night my husband was EXHAUSTED! I told him to go to bed early and that I would take care of the kids and put them to bed. Not because poor me little mommy was going to be resentful and have one up on him, but because I know that adding to that bucket will ONLY benefit our relationship and our family. I did it because I wanted to make him feel better, remember you got married because you love each other? And would you believe it, I woke up today with a sore throat? My hubbie picked the kids up from school, took care of dinner, and I spent the entire night in bed! It is a beautiful thing when you remember you are here to help and not HURT each other! This basic principle will make you a sexy mom by default, because you are in a confident secure relationship with yourself and your spouse.

A sexy mom remembers WHY and then owns that, making sure she is fully aware of her role.

It is the direction from whence the well known and respected Cape South Easterly wind originates, from faraway over the Atlantic Ocean, and it is the region now known as the Table Mountain National Park.Origins:The Table Mountain range originated some 500 million years ago when Africa was part of the original Gondwand continent. The Earth was in a turmoil of earth quakes and volcanic activity. The gigantic tectonic plates within the mantle, many kilometres below the surface of the seas, shifted, and molten lava was forced upwards through seabed shale to cool and form granite.The quartzite/sandstone Cape mountains we know today developed from sediment deposited by ancient rivers, which covered the subsiding granite over millions of years. Rocky remnants of those ancient times can still be seen in the form of huge granite boulders which dot our coastline and flank many Cape Town beaches.These days Table Mountain is a magnet for photographers, tourists and hikers, and a visit to Cape Town is not complete without a cable car ride or hike to the summit. The upper cable station is at 1067 metres, and the highest point Maclears Beacon, stands at 1085 metres.About the Table Mountain cableway:A funicular railway to the summit was originally proposed before the 1st world war, but after much deliberation a cableway system was eventually financed by a group of prominent businessmen, and opened in 1929.The cableway was upgraded in 1997 to the highest safety standards and two large revolving cars now transport passengers up and down the mountain simultaneously while offering a panoramic view in all directions.At peak times during the summer months long queues snake back from the lower cable station. Self employed parking marshalls wearing printed bibs watch the cars while you ascend the mountain, in return for a few coins. It is advisable to arrive early to obtain parking nearby at busy times, otherwise expect to walk some distance along the road.People with disabilities are provided with dedicated bays at the lower cable station. The cablecars, facilities and pathways on the summit are wheel chair friendly.The cableway usually runs continuously till late into the evening in peak season Nov-Feb unless strong winds or poor visibility prohibit its use. When it is time for the last cable car to descend the mountain, a loud hooter sounds in advance to warn stragglers. In the event of adverse weather, leave yourself with enough time to walk down should the cableway be forced to close. Table Mountain cable wayThe facilities on the summit of Table Mountain in the vicinity of the upper cable station have also been upgraded to make them more tourist friendly - unfortunately to the extent where concrete modifications are clearly visible from below.Boardwalks lead to lookout points and telescopes, paths have been laid and signposting indicates points of interest. There is a self service restaurant and a cocktail bar, and souvenirs can be purchased.If you intend to ascend by means of the cable car remember that the temperature is generally cooler on top, so bring a coat or windbreaker along. When you reach the summit dont wander too far from the cable station unless you have a good knowledge of the area, or unless you are accompanied by an experienced hiker. There are steep pathways and dangerous cliffs nearby.For Hikers:Signposting on the various paths are minimal so if you dont know the mountain it is advisable to hike with someone who does. Alternatively, walking maps are available in stationary stores and at the lower cable station. There are many routes on Table Mountain which vary in levels of difficulty and exposure. If you do not know the mountain well then stick with the most well used one.The most obvious and direct route on the north face of the mountain which is easily accessible from the lower cable station, ascends via Platteklip Gorge. Walking time is 1-3 hours from Tafelberg road depending on your pace and level of fitness.Routes to the summit are to be found all around the Table Mountain range, some more strenuous than others. The easiest way up is via the jeep track from Constantia Nek to the Back Table. Its a longish walk.Whichever route you decide to take, make sure you are prepared and know where you are going. A hike up Table Mountain especially in hot weather should not be taken lightly. Give yourself plenty of time. Leave early and dont walk alone.
